Coming soon to a PC near you!

Rocky Mountain Reserve is a new 4km map scheduled for release very soon. I don’t have an exact date, I apologize. What I can tell you, is that it is very close to being released for testing. Due to the mountainous nature of the terrain on this map, it created a few issues with the development of the PDA. While orthographic mode is the way to go for things such as the PDA, it’s not foolproof when it comes to hilly terrain and can affect the accuracy of the mini-map. Even though the name of this map may indicate that it is based on an IRL location, it is purely fictional. In fact, the substructure of this card is the Alpine base-game map by Giant’s, converted to a 4km. This map is a bit different for me in some ways … it was never intended to be a map at all! I was using this card to as a platform to run some tests and experiments and over time it took on a life of it’s own. Since this was never intended to be a playable, production map, I didn’t approach the set up and creation in a manner that I would for a typical map build. This ultimately made some things more difficult in the build process, but it also made things interesting and forced me to approach certain items from a different perspective. This different approach eventually culminated in a different type of map for me! For better or worse, it’s been a fun experience and turned out to be an enjoyable map to play, and I invite you to give a try yourself!

Keep an eye out and keep checking back for the release of Rocky Mountain Reserve! Unfortunately, I did not include a railroad system in this map which is not completely out of the ordinary for me because I do love a good railroad, but I made up for it with lots of other goodies. Some of things you can expect to find on this map are:

  • 112 fields ranging from tiny to massive
  • 201 purchasable farmlands
  • Not a super-impressive collection of starting equipment, but some items better equipped for larger fields
  • Tons of logging opportunities
  • A respectable starting farm and a few other areas are that perfect for creating your own
  • I did not count the number of sell points, purchase points, and productions point … but it’s not a short list!
  • Interesting terrain the you will find challenging to work in certain conditions

I guess that’s about it for now. Like I mentioned, keep an eye out … the map is not too far from test release. I hope you guys have as much fun playing this map as I had creating it!
